Nice to Meet You Iris Linares from #NYEJuicing • Soulful Entrepreneur • Dare to DREAM Series

I feel like I am living a part of my dream, which is to be doing something
I love and embrace, by accepting who I have become. Part of my dream
is also to love and fully accept who I am; something I denied myself to do
for a very long time and that I am still learning to do.

If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you, and why?
Gina Rodriguez. She plays in Jane the Virgin (one of my favourite shows). We do not look a like but she seems to be someone who embraces life and who makes the best out of a situation. I also find she is a model for young Latin American women who do not always fit the mole of being the “sexy Latina”, she stands out due to her difference that’s why she is an inspiration to me.

What do you love about yourself?
I love that I smile with my heart and feel my emotions so deeply that it makes me embrace my life and the essence of my journey in this world.

What have you been reading lately?
"The Forty rules of Love" by Elif Shafak, "The Architects Apprentice" also by Elif Shafak, and lots of self-empowering books.

Two things that make you smile.
The sun and my passion planner.

Name two people who have influenced your journey thus far.
The first one would be my mother. She loves me as I am and showed me how to become the person I am meant to be.

The second one Elif Shafak for her book “The Forty Rules of Love”. That book made me understand why it is important to F.L.Y before you can let anyone else enter your world.

What do you like about juicing?
It is now a full time passion… so that’s what I like about it because it brought purpose to my life.

Two favorite quotes every soulful entrepreneur should live by.
"Change is the only constant."
Honestly things have changed a whole lot and as an entrepreneur you always have to be ready to face the waves life throws at you.

“The dream is free. The hustle is sold separately”.
You can dream and wish upon your lucky star all you want, but like princess Tiana in The Princess and the Frog (of course I had to answer this with a Disney reference, lol), hard work is what makes the difference and gives you satisfaction at the end of the day!

Three destinations of your dreams.
Bali, California, and Egypt.

How would you describe your fashion style?
I have a lot of sneakers…and a few heels... comfy/ chic? Is that a thing? (laughs)

Tell us one pleasant thing people would be surprised to know about you.
I eat my cereals with juice… (laughs) I’ll just leave that there. (laughs)

For you, Art is...
The soul expressing itself in a tangible manner as the artist is trying to make sense of the world around them.

According to you, what is the purpose of life?
It is to find the hidden beauty of the ugly world we live in. In other words you have to be courageous enough to stand by yourself and be yourself in a world that wants to suppress your uniqueness and who is scared of your inner power. Release it and watch the universe talk to you.

Nice to Meet You Samuel Edeki Ejekudor • Dare to DREAM Series

I find myself reading everything that concerns life; and as I do this constantly, I see every breath I take become a privilege. I'm a born Writer and Prophet. I know that now.  I desire every word that I may write and speak to pass Quatercentenaries; every last sentence glorifying the existence of God. But more importantly, my dream in life is to die to myself; for unless a seed dies, it remains alone...but if it dies, it becomes fruitful. I believe a wheat seed cannot become bread unless it dies first.
Everyday. That is what I desire. Die to self, that another may live...

If there was a book written about your life, which author would tell it best and why?
Ow wow! I think no one would do it better than Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. His imagination is impeccable; a true expressionist of an author. The only person I think that could be close to his astral plane is Og Mandino; Og Mandino is a gift.

What do you love about yourself?
Hahahaha....my soul.

Name two people who influenced your journey thus far
The non-Conformists, the ones who will never allow peace if error is present; from the likes of John Calvin "the great reformer" who once stood against the prelates and said "Even a dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God's truth is attacked and yet remain silent." were his words;

The non-pusillanimous, the ones that will not submit no matter the obstacle life throws at them; who will say to themselves "if the bodies of those who have failed before me were to pile one atop another and though cast its shadows upon all the pyramids of the earth. Yet I will not fail as the others"....Inky Johnson is one of them.

What have you been reading lately?
"1984" by George Orwell... it's a masterpiece.

What are the three destinations of your dreams?
Bali.
Israel.
And for timeless sake, the hearts of the ones I love and people.

Photo, courtesy of Samuel Edeki Ejekudor

How would you describe your fashion style?
Uhmm I would say timeless... anything timeless, which is a lifestyle. My favorites are The classics, from Brogues to a classic double breasted suit; you know sometimes I join the younger ones and put on a couple jackets and maybe a Nike huarache here or there hahahaha I'm only 23 but I'd like to think of myself as an old soul.

Tell us two things that make you smile.
Hmm well I would say, the understanding of a child. And its innocence; I'm ever so fascinated by a child's mind...it is pure and beautiful.

What are your two favorite quotes of the moment?
"You are beautiful but you are empty, one could not die for you."

"Listen my son, when you meet someone always remember all you see is nothing but a shell, what is most important is invisible."

Tell us one pleasant thing people would be surprised to know about you.
Hmm I kind of recognize and appreciate the little things; they really are not little to me. Like your kind words Anaëlle, they mean a lot to me... you just don't know.

For you, Art is...
...freedom on a Canvas, these days anything can be your Canvas; the possibilities are endless.

According to you, what is the purpose of life?
The same purpose it was in the beginning...Intimacy with the father; that is purpose. To recognize and multiply every potential you find within and out of you is your assignment on earth. I try not to confuse one for the other or get the two mixed up. I see people do it these days.

If there was a movie produced about my life I would play myself because I wouldn't want anyone else trying to be me. (laughs)

What do you love about yourself?
The main things that I love about myself is that I'm very strong minded, independent, creative, my eyes, and my goofy personality.

Name two people who influenced your journey thus far
Two people that have influenced my journey so far would be Martin L King Jr. and my hippie group friends because they all made me realize that anything is possible and that I can make a change in the world if I really try.

What are your two favorite quotes of the moment?
"I don't dress to impress, I dress to express." - Me

"The reason why we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind the scenes with everyone else's highlight reel." - Steven Furtick

Tell us one thing people would be surprised to know about you.
One thing that people would be surprised about is that I've dealt and still dealing with depression since I was 11.

For you, Art is...
Hmm. For me art is a way for you and I to express ourselves by being creative in many different ways.

According to you, what is the purpose of life?
According to me the purpose of life is to just live it without any worries and learn from your experiences and use your mistakes as knowledge and to become a better person.

What if you were born ready?
What if growing up was simply becoming more of who you already were?

If there was a movie produced about my life I would play myself because I wouldn't want anyone else trying to be me. (laughs)

What do you love about yourself?
I love that even though I'm really artistic, I love math. It breaks away from the common theory that you are either left brained or right.

Name two people who influenced your journey thus far
Bob Marley by just teaching that monetary goals will never equate to happiness. Our life is worth nothing if we make it to the top and can't help anyone around us. Andre 3000 is very influential on me and the music I create.

What have you been reading lately?
Textbooks on business, and Don Miguel Ruiz' The Four Agreements.

What are the three destinations of your dreams?
Dubai to ride camels and fast cars, California to live and self-actualization.

How would you describe your fashion style?
Homeless chic

Tell us two things that make you smile.
The first would be being around positive successful people and hearing how they did it. The second is hearing my daughter laugh. She knows what life is all about. I'm learning from her.

What are your two favorite quotes of the moment?
"Be Yourself"
"Life isn't a race but a marathon."

Tell us one thing people would be surprised to know about you.
I love to dance. Dancing makes me feel in control of reality.

For you, Art is...
The difference between living and existing.

According to you, what is the purpose of life?
Learning new shit, falling in and out of love, accepting that both sides of the pendulum are needed in order for life to exist.

APRIL: PINK MOON CELEBRATION

Not worrying about the future is making the present count. The essence of our April Celebration is faith in the future, in other words, giving yourself the gift of mental, physical and spiritual security. This month, we are here to remind you that being afraid of things going wrong isn't the way to make things go right. That's the HAKUNA MATATA spirit and we sure felt it on the first (see picture) for our warrior mermaid Nalie Agustin.

We can't wait to release "Faith in the Present", a black and white photographic exhibition featuring Ali Fahrenheit (The Bronx, New York). The overall essence of this exhibit is to find the courage to take those first steps onto a new path... "Faith in the Present" will be released on April 3, 2016 at 8 a.m. E.T. In the meantime, you're invited to read our Nice to Meet You interview.

This month's dreamy mermaid crush goes to Montreal-based Iris Linares who is officially giving birth to a long-time dream of hers: launching her own juicing company. Iris's story is all about perseverance, determination, never taking "no" for an answer, and never giving up. We're very proud of her and can't wait to unfold the new version of her wonderful self. Stay connected!

Save the date: On April 22, the time will be ripe to celebrate the first Full Moon of Spring. We're aligning our Energy with Earth's Moon to bring you an unforgettable Pink Moon celebration. We love you all!
